Bangladesh is a country defined by water. Nearly 80 percent of the land disappears beneath monsoon floods every year, making this one of the most disaster prone areas on the planet. With climate change causing more erratic and severe rains than ever before, millions of lives are threatened, and increased migration into cities as a result of flooded-out villages is only worsening poverty in the region. "Every time they shift, they lose everything. 90 percent of their goods, they lose. The lands, they lose. So they become poorer and poorer," said Runa Khan, founder of the Friendship Hospital. The Friendship Hospital is a converted oil barge that travels the rivers of Bangladesh offering healthcare and education to those dealing with the devastating effects of climate change.
