Photos posted by veterinary professionals(NOT PARKER COUNTY VET) The @AVMAvets will have their big convention in Boston next week. One of the things they will teach in a workshop is how to use their lasers for declawing for "profit". The veterinarians who took an oath to heal animals will learn how to "improve their hospital revenue" by doing a disabling surgery for the welfare of a piece of furniture. This AVMA vet in Texas is a sad example of one of the many who PROMOTE laser declawing. He chooses to not offer humane solutions or tell clients that it should be a last resort. On the phone they even say,"your cat will feel great after it”,and “it’s ok otherwise Doc wouldn’t do them.” Yes,my friends, this vet isn’t breaking a law but he is going against the advice that his profession’s highly regarded assoc. says, that it should be a “last resort.” In 2 of his blogs, he talks about how humane and safe his laser declawing is. About how if you play with your cats & get a scratch, declawing is an “excellent option and may even make it easier for (owners) to bond with their cats.” Read it yourself, ParkerCountyVet.com So I sent a respectful email to Dr Patrick Jarrett to ask him if he would offer humane solutions on his blog or at least counsel clients with a humane mindset and why he isn’t following AVMA’s "last resort" guidelines. His only reply,"You have your opinion and I have mine. Neither one will change" Nothing will change with the AVMAvets like Dr Jarrett, who do declawing as a first resort and for $,until the AVMA enforces their “last resort” policy and until the AVMA truly CARES that this is happening everywhere in America. They don't care that 1000's of cats are being unnecessarily disabled and harmed by such a barbaric procedure in the hands of someone who should be using their laser to heal and not harm. Dr Jarrett,a 40yr member of the AVMA, may just be following their "unofficial" guidelines and going by the mindset that they are teaching next week at their convention. And that is, that greed is more important than compassion and humane practices, and lasers can help them with that. #stopdeclawing
