The 13,000-plus athletes competing on 1,280 clubs during the USAV Girls' Junior National Championships are not the only top volleyball players competing this week in New Orleans. The U.S. Collegiate National Team Program (#USAVcnt) has 35 athletes who have been training in #NOLA since June 21. The 35 players have been divided into three teams which will compete in a round robin format Friday through Sunday with matches at 4:30 p.m. on court 28 in front of the #GJNC crowds at the Morial Convention Center. On Monday, the semifinal match will be played at noon on court 33, while the gold-medal match will be contested at 5 p.m. on Court 28. The CNT players have welcomed the opportunity to take the role model approach to inspiring the next generation of collegiate players. Setter Bianca Arellano (@biancatonk) of Arizona State University (@sundevilvolleyball) said "I am honestly so thrilled to be here to set that example for them. I remember when I was playing in Junior Nationals for six years. It is amazing to be in this environment and set an example." Lauren Hatfield of Puget Sound Volleyball Academy 15-1 Jess, which is playing in the 15 National Division, liked watching part of the USAVcnt program train on Thursday in front of the junior audience and their parents. "It is really inspiring. It is a good break from playing, and to watch them just makes you want to work harder. Just watching them is amazing to me." Amanda Neill (@AmandaNeill7) of @purduevb, Bianca's teammate on the CNT, enjoyed the training experience in front of the juniors and looks forward to playing real matches starting Friday. "It is fun to see all the clubs and all the age groups loving the game like we did at that age. This is a once in a lifetime experience - we don't get to do this every day. So I think it it really fun to play with all kinds of college players in front of a big group of athletes such as the juniors. It is an honor and I am excited to continue my own dreams like this." #humansofvb
