Sadly the @Avmavets will have workshops at their Boston convention in a couple weeks where they will teach vet techs how to “make their jobs more fun” while they learn pain blocks for “toe amputations” and another that teaches vets how to use their lasers to declaw for profit ..Their exact words. Appalling to say the least. Here is one of the many notes I received recently from someone who wanted to go into this noble profession. "All my life I wanted to work with animals. I wanted to be a veterinarian. When I grew up, I realized I wasn't cut out for that.... so a vet tech would have to do. I studied hard and got a job in a vet clinic to continue my career. I worked there for almost 1 year exactly before I had to end my life long dream of working in a veterinarian clinic. Why? The main reason... declawing is wrong.
Declawing is cruel. It's inhumane, it's brutality. I would watch a perfectly amazing kitten or cat, happy as can be. I'd watch them put under, and their toes amputated. I'd crumble inside.
I knew what was next. The "wake up." The wake up of almost every single declawed cat is like a horror movie. There's pure agony, intense pain. There's fear and desperation. The cats throw themselves about wailing their paws around the cage. Usually the bandages come off and blood splatters the cage walls, the ceiling, the entire kennel is bloody. The cat yowls and cries. The techs remove them and re-bandage their amputated toe ends. Sometimes the flailing continues... sometimes not. These cats are ruined.
