@djginaturner I did a live b2b set for @mixmagmagazine yesterday as a warm up for our @sound_nightclub show on Saturday. Check MixmagTV to see it! Funny though, I already saw some comments about why am I 'playing deep all of a sudden', and, 'EDM pays the bills'. Let me explain for those who don't know: I grew up listening to MK, Carl Craig and Carl Cox in the beginning of the 90s. And the start of my career, I was an upcoming name in techno. Adam Beyer, Marco Carola and Umek were coming up at the same time. Funny right? I just spoke to Umek about this last week. Did I trade my techno career in for the big money of EDM? In 2000, there was no money in EDM. The big money was in Trance. I was actually making decent money in techno, but I couldn't make it or play it anymore. I hit a creative wall with it. I almost quit my music career because of techno limiting my musical freedom. So I cut the boundaries and decided to be limitless musically. For a few years I made indie band music and electroclash. Which later formed into Swedish, Dutch and the start of fidget. I set out to make my style of chunky and accessible House the biggest and much much later became EDM. I'm still limitless though. Like food, you don't eat the same food every day over and over. Music is like that to me! Thanks to Gina I got interested in deep stuff again in 2008. And although techno feels like an ex girlfriend to me, I still have a special bond with it.
