#Repost @tombilyeu. Do not fall victim to the tyranny of being chosen. This world IS judging you, but you can’t ever be afraid to stand alone. You can’t worry about being last picked, or not picked at all. You must have absolute clarity of purpose. That will be the port in the storm when others reject you. And they will reject you. They will fail to see what makes you great. And it will be because YOU have lost sight of what makes you great. Find it again. Everything depends on it. As Mark Twain said “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” You must remain ever vigilant to the fact that the human animal is a social creature. We all long to fit it. We hunger for it. We ACHE for it. But fitting in is a race to the middle. It is conformity by definition. Greatness demands that you fight against that instinct. It demands that you break out of that mold. It demands that you find your true voice - the thing that makes you you. Finding the truth of you is terrifying work. It means defining who you are. Defining what you stand for. It means standing up to be counted. It means making yourself vulnerable to attack. And you WILL be attacked. So don’t waste time being shocked. They ARE coming for you. Steel yourself for the fight, & no matter what, know what you’re fighting for. Clarity of purpose is all you will have in the emotional storm that follows the cries of the naysayers. Let Joseph Campbell’s words burrow into your soul: “The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.” This world is not changed by those who see things the same - it’s changed by those who see a path others cannot see. Walk the path that is your fingerprint. Walk the path that is uniquely you. Delight in being true to yourself. Acknowledge things that drive you & let them guide your decisions. Don’t deviate. Don’t hesitate. Just jump. As in this #TBT, express the pure joy of being authentically you. Take your shoes off, pull your socks up, & leap. Don’t worry about whether anyone is watching. Remember, whether you need the audience or fear the audience, you are still controlled by others. Just be you & force this world to dance to your tune.
