To portray Holmes at 60 (I am 75) required a bit of make-up. Most of the film, however, takes place much later in his life, when he is 93 years old. That required somewhat more elaborate effects, provided by the masters of make-up Dave and Lou Elsey ("Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith"; "X-Men: First Class"; Academy Award 2011 for “The Wolfman”). "Mr Holmes" opens in UK Cinemas 19 June, select cities in US & Canada 17 July.
