We lost one of the true greats. #RIPBBKing.
One of my favorite parts of being from Memphis, is growing up surrounded by deep, engulfing musical influence. Memphis is a city that breathes music and soul unlike any other city. For generations it has beckoned musicians to its streets & studios, like the very great BB King. Because of that city, the Blues is deep in my soul. I've spent countless nights at BB's Blues club on Beale St, and even more countless nights letting the blues take my heart to beautiful places in my own home. My love for Riley "Blues Boy" King is long and deep. I have so many memories of my mom playing BB loudly in our home and dancing with me and my brother. So much of the music I listen to today is clearly influenced by the Blues, which I suppose is why I'm attracted to it. Every day is a great day to listen to the blues, but today, we should all take the time to listen to BB & his sweet Lucille play the blues that bled from his soul.
