These are photos my dad took of my mom. You can tell how much he loves her in these photos by what he captured here. I am inspired by his vision of her. I would never be who who I am without their love. You can even feel how integrated they were as 4th generation Japanese-American-Californians and their love of nature and the culture in that time. My mom's style, aesthetic, creativity and vision has always been a magical force in my life. Her love and appreciation of the simple things in life..like a newly formed flower bud popping thru it's outer covering in the morning light..is a precious gift she gave me and my daughter after me. My mother is a powerful manifestor. When she has a clear dream or idea of something she wants she goes for it with no fear, no limitations and she finds a way to do it. She is a jedi, a true artist and lover of life. She never fails to see the world thru the fresh eyes of a child. She is my ichi-ban number one style icon. I watched every morning as she put on her make-up. It was as if she wasn't looking at herself. She was an artist drawing and painting. It was a ritual or a meditation. It was how she prepared herself for the day to come. An act of taking care of herself. Something she did for herself every day. There is something to be said for that. Every woman must care for herself first before she can truly give to others. Thank you mom for showing me the way!
