This strong, beautiful woman is my mother.
Today, seeing everyone posting pix spending the day with their mothers, doesn't bring me down but reminds me of how fortunate I was to have this one as mine.
My mom used to tell me I could be whatever I wanted to be. She was my best friend too. We would laugh a lot. She taught me to be silly and she also taught me to me empathetic, tough as nails, self deprecating, opinionated and above all else she told me to "go for my dreams without hesitation."
If I could do anything today I would hug my mom and thank her for my life. Thank her for her sacrifices. Thank her for providing for us. Thank her for being understanding, intelligent and curious about people.
She loved sitting near the window in a restaurant so she could "people watch" and so we would wait (with open tables available) to sit at those seats. Without knowing it she gave me the first valuable tool when becoming a comedian. To observe others. We would point interesting people out and discuss them. Create characters pertaining to who we thought they were. Where they were going or coming from. We pretended. It was so fun and to this day I sit near the window because my mom is always with me and I know she likes that seat.
I love you so much mom! Tears are streaming from my eyes writing this part because I always hated leaving you when I had to go.
Today is your day. But really everyday is your day in my heart.
