Street skating started coming in around the early 90’s and really started to take over. A lot of the guys were wearing my high top, but they wanted something a little bit lower. So they started cutting the shoe down. I started seeing in the magazines people with the shoes cut down with duck tape on the side. So, I started cutting the shoe down myself and after about the third one, I’m like man, I’m over this, so I called @vans, “Hey, what do you think about taking my shoe and making it a mid-top and calling it the Half Cab?” - @steviecab | #VansWeek
