This Bog Body was originally photographed for @ナショナルジオグラフィック for an article called “Secrets of the Bog”.
The Grauballe Man was described by Irish poet #SeamusHeaney, thusly….. "As if he had been poured
in tar, he lies
on a pillow of turf
and seems to weep
the black river of himself"

The #GrauballeMan ’s throat was cut with enough force that a vertebra in his neck marked. It was once thought other damage done him meant he was tortured before execution but new research suggests that his broken bones were caused by pressure from the long burial in the Danish Bog. He now rests at the #MoesgaardMuseum near Aarhus.
