Happy and comfortable???Snake oil veterinarian alert. Photo is from their facebook page that was shut down yesterday. One of the worst I've seen in a long time. This practice is sadly promoting their way of declawing cats with a laser by saying these things about their method, "the most advanced and gentle way to eliminate scratching problems with your cat" and "Cats and kittens of any age can benefit from Laser Declaw". They also have many lies in their laser declaw section about how they do it. The true facts are as follows...Declawing always involves amputating the toe bones along with the nails. There is always pain, always bleeding, and cats always suffer some sort of negative consequence for the rest of their lives after being declawed. In fact a study in 1999 showed that complications from laser declaw in the first two days after surgery were worse compared to the blade declawing technique. Please help me end this insanity. Veterinarians should educate their clients on the true facts about declawing and educate them on the humane alternatives like nail trimming techniques and the use of scratchers. They shouldn't promote the virtues declawing or say how "gentle and painfree" it is. It is a fact that is is one of the most painful surgical procedures in veterinary medicine.
