@tedhesser ascends a fixed line outside of a cave entrance in Mustang on the border of Nepal and Tibet. Our team, led by #peteathans and #markaldenderfer, used climbing to access ancient caves hand hewn into the rough cobble and sandstone cliffs of the Kalighandaki River basin. Working with @ナショナルジオグラフィック our goal was to document as much of the caves as we could placing a heavy emphasis on burial crypts and human remains. Using human teeth, Dr. Aldenderfer was able to sample the strontium contained in the enamel, allowing for a look at where the individuals were born. Comparing that to where their respective remains were found, the team was able to begin to see a clearer picture of human migration and trade between the Indian subcontinent and the Tibetan Plateau. @thephotosociety @natgeocreative
