Why did you choose to join Instagram? A: At the time, Instagram was growing rapidly and we really saw it as an opportunity to expand our social media footprint to a younger audience. It was clear, and has in many ways remained this way, that the teenage and twentysomething demographics were embracing it as a social platform. At the time it also integrated nicely with Twitter, in a way that Twitter itself didn’t offer at the time. That went away, of course, but our Instagram presence has grown significantly. ________________________________________Q: How relevant is Instagram for a University? A: Our students are our number one priority and we want to engage with them via our social media channels. Instagram is a great way to reach them by featuring their travels, their activities, their studies and more. We also use it to show prospective students how beautiful, active and interesting our University really is. ________________________________________Q: How do you promote the Instagram account of the university? A: We promote our Instagram posts through other social media accounts and also through news and promotions out of our News and Media Relations office and Marketing offices.
