#ThrowbackThursday from Quest President @TomBilyeu. Values drive action. No matter how strange someone’s behavior, I can promise you that their internal value system is driving their actions. I fear that most of the time, however, these values are not intentionally defined. They have simply come into existence by the law of accident. When I sat down to evaluate my own values, in fact, I was surprised by what I found. It was my belief that, at least in the context of business, my highest value was achieving success. But as I looked at my behavior, that just somehow didn’t ring true. As I assessed the true driver of my actions, I quickly realized that my highest value in business is camaraderie. It’s no accident that I have two business partners. And it’s no accident that we’ve been working as a team for 12 years (and they were working together for another 14 years before I met them). When I took this #TBT photo some 6 years ago, I didn’t think much of it. It was just us being us, goofing around. But when I started thinking about my core values, this photo came to mind. @ronsquest (CEO) is a very talented martial artist and I dared him to demonstrate his skills by kicking a can off of @mosborn99’s (CFO) head without touching him. And so he did. But the most impressive part to me wasn’t the kick, it was that Mike didn’t hesitate to put the can on his head. He had the kind of trust and faith in Ron’s abilities that comes only with time. There is something truly beautiful about knowing someone has your back. That awesome feeling is precisely why camaraderie is my highest value, even if it doesn’t drive the most revenue. To that end, to all of the members of #TeamQuest that busted their butts to make both the Arnold and Expo West events last week huge successes, know that we’ve got your back. The world is a far more interesting place when the lines between work and play, and friends and family are blurred. Just remember though, you only go where your values point you. #OnaQuest
