When I was a kid, I would daydream endlessly about living in LA. In my head, it was a place where dreams came true, the sun was always shining, and everyone had their own private driver (ha!) When I first stepped foot here, the reality was, of course, quite different. I knew virtually no one, and my first few months were generally spent trying to discern whether someone was a potential friend or sociopath. It's now been ten years since my first visit, and I've lived here long enough to see that most peoples' dreams die before they are realized, the sun never shines on Oscar weekend, and traffic is so unpredictable that even people with private drivers think that driving here sucks. And yet, LA is still my favorite city in all the world. It's my home, and I spread the LA love to haters any chance I get - I'm talking to you, NY and SF!! Here's to another decade!
