After decades of war, there are an estimated 600,000 working street children in Afghanistan. Children as young as five work seven days a week in winter cold and summer heat.
They try to make a livelihood, working and scavenging on the streets, and often their work provides the only means of support for their families.

Aschiana (meaning the nest) provides them with hope and a better life at eight centers in Kabul
Children are provided food, healthcare, literacy, vocational training, and other skills.
