From being in an orphanage to now the creative director at Banana Republic and designer at her private label Marissa Webb, Marissa is one of the most humble, goofy, hardworking, and talented people I have the honor of knowing. Her story gives me so much hope. Her honesty and openness inspires me to one day do the same. When I first started blogging, I shared about my foster care experience and my fear of being homeless after emancipation. Although most readers were very supportive, I had some comments that shook my core. Some people called me a liar and wanted proof (I still have the paperwork from family and social services). I don't share as much now because of this. Marissa and her story deeply resonates with me. My favorite quotes from the article are: "you can start out being something completely different from whatever you decide to make of yourself.
