When you're on to something... The universe will let you know.
Today I decided to put some serious work into helping stray dogs and rescues across the world. I started a new Instagram account as a first step and started reaching out to some organizations for support. As I was talking to my assistant about how we could make the process of connecting animals in need with new families easier, this puppy walked into our garden. Just like that. You can't tell by the picture because I wrapped him in a towel but he is skin and bones. Skin and bones. His ribs are almost poking through his skin, he has wounds and ticks all over and seems to have been abandoned and fending for himself since he was born. The second he saw me he took off into the bushes and it took me 90 minutes and a whole bag of dog treats to lure him out. When he finally let me get close enough to touch him I had ended up in the middle of the mondi (cactus jungle) with thorns in my feet and twigs in my hair and I had absolutely no idea how to get him to move. I didn't have a leash or anything to tie him with so I took my bra off and put around his neck as an emergency solution, so that he wouldn't run away from me. We use what we have!? I finally managed to get him out and swept him up in a towel - I was afraid he was going to get aggressive with me (most stray dogs do not like to be touched by strangers) but when I picked him up he just collapsed in my arms and put his head on my shoulder. He weighs absolutely nothing. So awful. Brought him to the vet and he seems to be alright, not sick but just super malnourished. We gave him a bath, fed him and gave him water and now he is asleep here in our house snuggled into a dry towel. He is exhausted and I love him already.
We don't have a name for him yet and we will probably be looking for a home for him in a few weeks when he has regained some strength, but for now you can follow this sweet angel and his story on @sgtpeppersfriends ??I'll keep you updated over there!
