Crossing the Rubicon to the U. P. of Michigan. The Mackinaw suspension bridge spans Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
It's -18F, the snow is blowing and it's all froze up. We are enroute to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on Lake Superior to shoot the centennial IMAX film for the @アメリカ内務省 with @macfreefilms. Thanks to @discoveramerica for the support.
Special shout out to Mike L. at the St Ignace welcome center. Friendliest fellow of the morning. We learned that UP is the flannel capital of the world, Pictured Rocks was designated the nation's first lakeshore, the rock is soft 500 million year old Cambrian sandstone, there are a stack of lighthouses, we are in the land of Hiawatha and the ice fishing is good this year. Our team is here for the next week to ice climb in Munising, so ice fishing might not be be part of the plan. Either way - looking forward to getting out, getting cold and getting scared on the many waterfalls.
