“I would go to [Brian Wilson’s] house, photograph his children and splash about in the pool. I loved his first wife, Marilyn. She took care of the whole thing. She allowed the sandbox and the tent in the living room. The piano was in the sand. Yes, that’s absolutely true. At the Wilson house there were no real band meetings with the guys. Once in a while someone would come over and work on a song or something like that. That house was a sacred place for the family. Brian was a difficult person to get focused.
