Today in #BlackHistory we salute Nelson Mandela. After being imprisoned for 27 years during his fight against apartheid- he was was finally released February 11th, 1990. Mandela spent the first 18 of his 27 years at the brutal Robben Island Prison where he was confined to a tiny room with no plumbing and no BED. He also was forced to do hard labor in a quarry. He could write and receive a letter only once every SIX months and allowed a visitor ONCE a year for only 30 minutes!!! Can you imagine how difficult that would be to be isolated from everyone you know and love for that long???!! The mental strength this man had was incredible!!! Then when he was released the fact that he went from prisoner to a president?!! I mean if his story does not inspire you to want to do better than I don't know what will. I'm such a fan of Mr Mandela. Today we remember your sacrifice and we salute you! Rest in paradise brother. ???
