"It is often impossible to date the moment when one era ends and another one begins, but in fashion, it could be said that the transition from the 1950s to the 1960s happened in a single meeting in 1960, when eighteen-year-old Jean Shrimpton was discovered by David Bailey while she was waiting in a studio for another photographer. The coltish, aristocratic Jean Shrimpton, or the “Shrimp,” as she came to be called, had slightly rumpled hair, huge doe eyes, full lips, and arched eyebrows. She gave off the air of a privileged, innocent young woman yearning to be seduced, which endowed those pictures, especially Bailey’s, with a sexual vibrancy that spoke to both the high fashion–minded and the masses alike." This is an excerpt from my new book out February 10th called Models of Influence - 50 Women Who Reset The Course of Fashion, published by Harper Collins. To pre-order hit the link in my bio or visit any good bookstore. My book tour begins in a few days so hope to see you on the road.
