Superstar was a revolution when it hit the courts in the 70s.

Basketball fan @themagdi tells us what made Superstar the shoe of choice for the pros: "The Superstar featured a durable rubber toe piece, providing more protection for players.
Designed to absorb the punishment players would get whilst playing tough in the key, this meant they could have a more aggressive style of play without the worry of injury.

The design feature led to the famed moniker for the shoes: ‘Shell Toes’. By the mid 70s, most of the league were playing in Superstars because of their protective qualities. It caught the attention of legendary players like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Jerry West." #superstar by @laurenrolwing.
