David Bowie is one of my favorite musicians, and has crafted his music and visual presentation with equal brilliance. I was inspired by Bowie’s song “Sound and Vision” for my 2012 solo show in London. Music has long been an inspiration for me as a democratic medium that can bring joy but also deliver provocative and compelling social commentary. Today is David Bowie’s birthday and I can only wish him “the gift of sound and vision” on this day. - Shepard
