The Runway, which is featured above is just one of hundreds of figures that make up the Nazca Lines in Southern Peru, near the city of Nazca.
The lines were made by the Nazca culture between 400 & 600 years ago.
Due to the dry, windless, and stable climate of plateau and its isolation, for the most part, the lines have been preserved. Extremely rare changes in weather may temporarily alter the general designs. As of recent years, the lines have been deteriorating due to an influx of squatters inhabiting the lands.
