SENIOR SUNDAY! Today's story comes to us from our friends at @susiesseniordogs. Together, we have been celebrating Adopt a Senior Dog Month all of November and this Sunday is no different!

@shealymarina wrote, "I have been following your Instagram for a few weeks now. It has become ever more important for me to promote senior adoption as I have recently rescued my senior doxie Daphne on November 1!

I had been considering rescuing/adopting for quite some time now as I felt my 7 year old wirehair dachshund Penny could use a friend while I'm at work. After searching many dachshund rescues and shelters I knew I had found our new baby when I saw Daphne, an 8-9 year old piebald. Though she was not listed as having any health conditions I quickly found out on day 1 she had a probable UTI. After a trip to the vet it was revealed she had a pretty loud heart murmur, beginnings of cataracts and bad teeth. How opposite this seemed of my happy, tail wagging little lady. I never once considered giving her back to the rescue as I knew she belonged the moment I picked her up.
After an ECHO to look at her heart, some antibiotics and new prescription food, I'm happy to report Daphne is on the road to recovery! We sincerely hope all [senior dogs] find their forever homes soon.
