#AI and I in France a few years back. We had our first ever real back and forth battle in a quarter final heat in small surf at the Quik Pro in Hossegor, France in 2002. I thought I won the heat and yelled at the judges afterwards. Haha. Andy went on to make the final with #NecoPadaratz then proceeded to go on a tear thru France and was literally unbeatable there for 3 years, which was unbelievable given it's such an unpredictable wave. Just showed the guy's depth and adaptability in different conditions along with a huge drive not only to win but to dominate. In '05 Andy was way behind in an early heat and nearly lost before coming back to win that heat and ultimately the event. I remember him yelling, "Keep that champagne on ice!", to all the Quiksilver guys when they were getting ready to celebrate my potential world title at that event. Just silenced everyone!
They #BrokeTheMold after this guy was born.
