In a night full of excitement (Deniro, Franklin, Wonder, Santana, Sting) gotta say that the highlight of Deniro getting honored by the Friars Club Ceremony was watching the New York City Salsa All Stars rock the afterparty. When my dad did a good few months in San Juan (anyone remember the explosion at the DuPont Plaza on New Years? Missed that one by a day!) I used to always go poolside and watch the bands play live salsa. Eventually sitting in once I got my chops up. Also in Cuba the bands there are like ? (dynamite? The bomb?) I got some bucket list fulfillment to do with Latin Culture. First and Foremost find a live club in the Heights (or I heard Queens too?) to get educated and schooled. Any suggestions are welcome!
