Our friend @vickruss 's pa, film director Ken Russell lived in Notting Hill in the 50's. He took many pictures of this fascinating neighbourhood, where West Indians were housed after the 'colonies' were 'invited' to the UK (no immigration restrictions at all for the colonies at this time) after the WW2. St Paul's in Bristol & London's Notting Hill were the first black communities in the UK.
