There is an overwhelming contrast between the urgency of the situation and any actual response from the political establishment. The nation-state system, including international organizations like the UN, is proving itself incapable of solving climate change or any major environmental problems. The major issues facing the earth could be solved with international coordinated public works programs, but profit and rivalry between nations stands in the way.
