Dave, you would not want us to cry for a second...well, maybe for a little bit...but we can't help it. You were a great reminder every time you would come around, of how lovely this life is if we look at it through positive shades. I will miss that...and you. You fought your cancer like all of the great NFL players you loved taking on an opponent. I watched you handle your impending death with optimism and grace and it made me believe you were capable of swaying the outcome. Your faith was a comfort to us all but it still cannot relieve us of the sting of the reality that we aren't going to see you. That you aren't going to check in and make sure everything is going just right. I am comforted know that you are in your complete glory now. How divine it must feel to have shed the burden of your ailing body.
I don't know if I will ever know anyone like you again. Someone who affected so many people from so many different walks of life in such an everlasting, positive way. What an inspiration to me to clean up my act and savor every moment of this very fleeting life we have. And what a reminder to tell everyone I love that I do love them.
Holly, we love you so and admire your grace and strength. We are forever here for you.
