A year ago today my grandmother started a journey of fighting with courage, faith and grace the ugly disease that took her body. I find myself reflecting on her strength today. I'll never forget her determined eyes as she said "it is what it is." We spent one day at a time fighting in hope as we faced an uncertain future. We cherished moments and made amazing memories throughout the battle. Cancer may have taken her body but her life and spirit remain. Cancer couldn't cripple our love, invade her soul, shatter our hope, silence her courage, or conquer her spirit. She was the bravest woman I have ever known. It's hard to bear the thought of not holding your hand, kissing your head, or hearing your voice. But every time my heart beats I feel you in my soul.
