“Where does the river go?” It’s a question CNN columnist @jdsutter asked time and again on his 417-mile kayaking and walking trip down the most #endangeredriver in the country, the San Joaquin. These guys gave his favorite responses. One: “Highway 132?” Another: “You’ll have to Google Map it.” Sutter writes that rivers have become invisible to most Americans — that we don’t Huck Finn them anymore. We don’t know where they come from or where they’re going. And so we don’t know that rivers like the San Joaquin fail to reach the ocean from overuse.
