We’ve always been inspired by National Lampoon, an iconic magazine from a few decades ago brilliant with parody. For a #stabconcept cover, we wanted to have an entire film production crew floating in dugout canoes shooting surf action in the Mentawai Islands. It was around the time when there was a lot of talk about sweatshops and production in third world countries. The twist with our shoot was that the entire crew (using expired cameras) would be Indonesian kids. The coverline would read: Slave Labour. You get the gag, right? Anyways, a freak four foot west bowl appeared, our crew were caught inside. It was life imitating art and the canoe flipped. The following 10 minutes were frightening as we rescued the kids. As it turned out everyone was fine but it was an #epicfail. This is @connercoffin before the fall.
