As surfers, we are lucky to spend so much of our time immersed in the ocean. This being so, we are directly effected by changes in the quality of the water that surrounds us. Protecting the ocean's ecosystem is our duty. We are its stewards. Wild salmon not only feed humans but they play a vital role in the ecosystem as they drive ocean-borne proteins up rivers and thousands of miles inland to become integrated into the ecosystem - feedings birds, bears, trees, and bugs. The culture and history of our coastal communities is based on having healthy fisheries. While wild salmon struggle throughout the Pacific, Bristol Bay thrives as the greatest source of wild sockeye on the planet.
