This is Ken McKay. When I arrived home from commonwealths I received a letter, it reduced me to tears when I opened it! Ken had watched my swim and had then written to me to tell me that my swim had made him so happy in this dark period of his life. His wife, of nearly 60 years (Elenor McKay (Gordon)) had passed away. She was due to present the medals for the 200br at the commonwealth games. His letter meant the world to me and it's touching to know what impact one wee swim can have! I finally got to meet this amazing 85year old man and he told me his story. Both Ken and Elenor's swimming cv's are amazing!! Multiple WR holders, british, Scottish and world champions. Elenor is the most successful female Scottish swimmer ever! It saddens me that I will never get to meet this incredible woman. Every year without fail Ken makes the trip up to Stonehaven from Hamilton and still swims in the outdoor pool. Ken and Elenor were truly an amazing couple and I hope to keep in contact with Ken. Such a spritely guy for 85 years young and you know what.......he won't ever stop swimming!!
