One day I was talking to a friend on the phone.I was telling her that I was close to having all my savings for the cruise this summer.She didn't respond.I was like, "Uh-oh,what happened now?" She told me she had more important things to do with her money and that she wanted to better herself.I respected her thought process.The next day I called her to see if she wanted to go to the mall and she said,"Girrrrrrl I am on my way out the door.I was at the mall yesterday and saw everything that I want to get! This cruise money is about to change my life for the better,like for real!" So I'm all excited like,"Girl if you don't tell me what it is,I'm about to scream!" Damn near in like one breath she said,"Ok so 1st I was in Nordstrom's & I saw a girl w/the hot LV bag & she turned around and I just knew I had to get me some of those D's she had.Girl,they sat upright and perky.Then when I was in the food court I saw this chick with some leather shorts on and girl her butt is the exact butt I'm about to buy!!!" Quite confused I said,
"So wait,let me be clear.It's not the bag or the shorts,it's the ass & the breast that you want??? She replied,"Girl,HELL NAH!...I want the breast,the ass,cheek implants,thick lips,chinky eyes,my rib taken out,
my inner thighs cut out,pointier hips,sculpted six pack,a thin&small nose,reduction of my chin,contacts,weave,acrylic nails&thicker calves...girl I want it ALL!! There was silence...And then she said,"Um hello,did you hear anything that I just said about what I liked and what I wanted?"...I exhaled&with great disappointment said,"I think so.You want everything that you're not& don't have& you want nothing of what you do have& who you are.You basically wanna purchase a new self, a new you...or..a new somebody else,right?" I had to let her go.
I wasn't judging.I just didn't know who my friend was.....neither did she.
You can't better self if self doesn't exist.
It's not the Nip/Tuck I'm against.
What baffles me is the mindset behind changing so much about self.If we could change/alter that much within ourselves,I'm sure we would literally change the course of the world as it is.
