Man … I just read this IG post from A-trak and it inspired me to post a reply. His post made me look at what I represent as a DJ. The first time I EVER djed live was oct 5th 2012. Not even 2 years ago. I used traktor with an S2 controller. I have never played a set on vinyl, and don't know how to scratch. My journey starts in hip culture though, out of the 4 elements, the dance is what drew me in. I was in a street dance crew for 4 years and thats one of the main inspirations that brought me into production. (Im a drummer too ) I spent countless years locked in the studio workin on my craft. So now I'm touring, as a dj, sharing my music and perspective with the world. I watch some of my heroes like A -Trak, Craze, and Z trip and to this day I am in awe of their skills and abilities. Jaw dropping everytime. I remember one of my first raves in NYC i saw Q-Bert smash a record n half literally, put the broken piece back on the tables and keep scratching. So raw. For me Djing is creating a vibe for the audience, and throwing a party! Its about creating a moment where u can forget about anything else and get lost in the music that you love. My sets are the live expression of the producers I love and the magic they create. I respect the craft of #REALDJING so damn much - And - one day you will see me on some vinyl ripping it. Im forever a student and there is still so much to learn. For now, I'm just locked in the studio producing whatever the universe sends thru me! Mad love for all the djs out there, whatever ur style is. respect. S/o @atrak
