40 years ago today, Philippe Petit walked across a steel high wire suspended between the Twin Towers in New York City. He called his walk "the art crime of the century" and was arrested when he got off of the wire. The Telegraph reports that his charges were dropped when he agreed to perform for children in Central Park.
