#TBT The Guggenheim Library & Archives staff recently uncovered these early 1900s playing cards designed by composer Arnold Schoenberg, a long-standing friend of Vasily Kandinsky. After attending a concert by Schoenberg in 1911, Kandinsky and the composer began their friendship, drawing inspiration from one another in their search to create new modes of expression. Schoenberg’s creativity was not limited to music; he also excelled in painting and creating toys and games, as seen in these playing cards. Take a closer look on our Findings blog: blogs.guggenheim.org.
