NASA Astronaut Steve Swanson participated in a Colorado group relay run from the International Space Station treadmill this past weekend. He was runner #6 of a six person team which included Suni Williams and former astronaut Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger. His participation included six treadmill sessions and he orbited the Earth twenty times during the runs.

Astronauts have to work out two hours each day to maintain health and fitness. They also participate in biomedical research investigations that help with medical issues on Earth such as Duchene’s disease, cancer and osteoporosis. NASA PAO
