Throwback to the second empty wave shot @gopro used as photo of the day back when they had thousands of followers instead of millions, you'd get mocked for walking down the beach with one and Instagram wasn't even a thought ... I think I actually shot the first dozen empty wave shots they used because back then there wasn't anyone else doing it with a GoPro ... I remember begging @russellhoover to come hang with me at this spot because I wanted a buddy to share the lineup with ... things have changed a lot since then as finding another photographer to share the lineup with is no longer a problem ... on the contrary it's not uncommon for there to be more people in the lineup shooting than riding. Some people get bummed out on that and while I do admit it's a lot harder to get an empty wave shot without getting photobombed ... I wouldn't think of trading the sense of community and positivity these little cameras have created between the diverse styles of wave riders that before didn't necessarily find commonality ... it's so cool to me how many people these little cameras have brought together ... and that's just talking about in the ocean ... all the different people GoPro has brought together from different realms of actionsports and life is a whole other topic ... simply amazing what this lil camera has done ? captured w/ #GoPro HD1
