I found my very first yoga mat! The first one I ever bought in my entire life. I almost can't believe it.

It was so many years ago; I had just gotten back from my first trip to Costa Rica and flew to our house in Spain to visit my dad for a few days. I ended up staying here for almost two months, on my own. My life was changing so quickly. I had broken up with my boyfriend of four years, thinking he was the one but knowing my path was different and that I had to move on. I'd found yoga for the first time in Central America, changed my diet and become vegan, left my home and backpacked all around and eventually... Found a new one. I was happy but confused. And lonely. The weeks I spent in Spain on my own determined the entire course of my life but I didn't know it at the time. I cooked every day. Meditated for hours. Spent time with, well, me. Just me.
One day I went to the bookstore and got a book on yoga, more out of curiosity than anything else. And then I got the yoga mat I'm sitting on in this video. It's earthy and the color of sand and I remember rolling it out for the first time on this very patio thinking, "this might just be something." I sat down to meditate and then looking at the pages of the book I laid on my back and did a twist. Then child's pose. It felt strange, but good.

It's seven years later and now I'm back here. Same yoga mat. Same patio. Same child's pose.
Same girl, but different. I found my path and I followed it. Along the road there has been more travel and adventure than I ever could have imagined. And friends. Laughter. Learning. Love. So much love. But also pain and tears and loss. It's all brought me here. I am still learning and growing and some days I have no clue what the hell I'm doing and what the point of it all is but I keep moving forward. Sometimes I'm scared and that's ok. I don't know what tomorrow brings but whatever it is I'll face it head on. I'm thankful. Above all, I am so happy. Crying tears of gratitude. Thank you, life. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
