Exactly one year ago today I approached a very large retailer here in Southern California. I wanted to get my product on their shelves and I literally called and emailed them everyday to give me a chance. Their regional sales director told me "Chris we like your seasonings but you're just not big enough, and the demand isn't there for them. So we're going to have to say NO, maybe someday we can work something out. Frustrated and disappointed, I almost gave up on my business, but I knew that giving up was not an option, and I just kept moving forward with my vision. As a small business owner I REALLY needed their help, and this retailers mission statement clearly stated "we're here to help local small business." The moment they told me "NO", is the moment I told myself that I would never give up. As of today that same retailer will not stop calling me and emailing me. They REALLY want my seasonings on their shelves, and they are willing to PAY ME for them, when 99% of the time, you have to pay THEM for shelf space. I tell them every week they call "no thanks, I appreciate the call, but you didn't believe in me from the beginning, MAYBE SOMEDAY WE CAN WORK SOMETHING OUT. The Moral of the story is this, throughout your life people are going to tell you "no" or that you can't do something. Don't listen to those people, listen to yourself and BELIEVE that you can accomplish anything you want to. Always be a good person, treat others with respect, and never sacrifice your integrity. If you're a small business owner, don't give up on your dreams, just keep pushing forward. Do whatever it takes to succeed, and you will. Cheers! Chris Wallace "FlavorGod Chef and Creator"
