Any guess where this epic shot was taken? If you said Colorado, you'd be absolutely correct. Rising 750 feet [230 m] from the floor of the San Luis Valley and located hundreds of miles from the nearest coast, this sea of sand at #GreatSandDunes National Park is home to the tallest dunes in North America. Highlighting the region's diversity, the park also contains alpine lakes, tundra, and six peaks over 13,000 ft [3,940 m] in elevation. Hiking is permitted on the dunes but be advised -- the daylight sand temperature can reach 140 F [60 C] in summer, and the area receives snowfall in winter.
