Happy birthday to French painter Henri Rousseau, born today in 1884. See his quirky 1908 painting "The Football Players (Les joueurs de football)" on view now in our collection galleries. It is to his credit that we still have no adequate words to describe a painting in which rugby players look like pajama-clad twins. ??
