#photooftheweek: This is the image we’ve been using to illustrate our messaging around #BringBackOurGirls - a social media campaign calling for the release of 230+ Nigerian schoolgirls who were abducted in Borno State #Nigeria on April 15. We’ve added our voice to the campaign and have repeatedly called for the immediate and unconditional release of the girls. This photo features schoolgirls in #UNICEF-supported Waziri Mazadu Primary School in the town of Dass in Nigeria’s northern state of Bauchi. The country has made tremendous gains in girls' #education over the years, but barriers remain. Nigeria has 10 million children out of school – the highest number in the world - and nearly 6.3 million, or 60 per cent, of those out of school live in the northern part of the country. © UNICEF/NYHQ2007-0515/Christine Nesbitt
