Many of you have inquired about the health of my 15 year old son Ade'. Thank you for your concern. The last week has been one of the roughest for our family. Ade' went in for a biopsy on his kidneys at UCSF due to some abnormalities in his blood after a routine physical exam and it was determines that he has a rare kidney disorder known as FSGS. This disease of unknown origin causes scarring in the cells which filter the blood, diminishing their ability and ultimately leading to them no longer working at all. People with FSGS usually require dialysis and transplant within a few years

We are researching every means of medicine, nutrition and exercise to keep his kidneys happy for as long as possible and are determined to beat this condition!
We are grateful for your thoughts, kind wishes and prayers. Ade' is an amazing child who I often tell,"I'd want you to be my friend even if you weren't my own son!" We go to concerts together, make music together, take walks in the park, cook, make smoothies and do lots of improv story telling and laughing. There is much hugging in our house throughout the day and since this diagnosis many tears. We are grateful to be surrounded by so many people who have gone out of there way to offer their help and support, especially my bandmates who have been their for me since we first discovered the results of the test. I'm grateful for the closeness this bump in the road has brought to our whole family and for every moment we share in this life.
